We fully co-operated with Public Protector - DAFF

Dept says it has yet to receive final report, hopes inaccuracies in earlier drafts were corrected

Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries? response to Public Protector?s final report

05 Dec 2013

The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries notes the Public Protector's media statement on the findings contained in the Final Report into the investigation on allegations of the improper awarding of the tender for fishing patrol and research vessels.

The Department fully co-operated with the Public Protector throughout the year long investigation. The Department further comprehensively responded to the Provisional Report.

While the finalisation of the investigation is welcome, it is hoped that the response of the Minister and the Department, which highlighted inaccuracies, incorrect information and bias, will be reflected in the Final Report.

It is unfortunate that the Department has not received a copy of the Final Report as announced by the Public Protector and we remain keen to receive it. The Department has written to the Public Protector to ask for the Final Report.

Statement issued by spokesperson for the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Ms Tsotso Sehoole, December 5 2013
