ANC panicking over ‘Know Your DA' campaign - Mmusi Maimane

Party spokesperson says the positive feedback on the ground has been overwhelming

ANC steps up propaganda campaign in response to the ‘Know Your DA' campaign

It seems that the primary purpose of the ANC's May Day events was to attack the DA in general, and the ‘Know Your DA' campaign in particular.

This was evident in speeches delivered by Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa, Deputy Public Works Minister Jeremy Cronin, SANCO Chairperson Rose Sonto, ANC Western Cape Leader Marius Fransman and SACP General-Secretary Blade Nzimande.

We have never seen the ANC panic like this before.

The ‘Know Your DA' campaign is clearly making the ANC very nervous. The ANC is losing the debate on corruption, jobs, crime and service delivery. All it has left is the myth that it alone fought apartheid.

Now that the DA is systematically dispelling this myth, the ANC is stepping up its propaganda war.

ANC leaders spread a lot of lies about the DA yesterday. The truth is as follows:

  • The DA's predecessor parties opposed apartheid
  • Helen Suzman was a member of the DA
  • Many of our current leaders began their political life in organisations as diverse as the UDF, ANC, PAC and Black Consciousness Movement
  • Helen Zille was an anti-apartheid activist who exposed the truth about Steve Biko's murder and hid ANC activists at her house.

We know that the ‘Know Your DA' campaign is working because the positive feedback on the ground is overwhelming. The ANC realises this too, which is why the party leadership is panicking.

In the coming days we will be ramping up the ‘Know your DA' campaign with our first billboards being erected today and our first print advertisements being flighted tomorrow.

Our door-to-door campaign continues at a pace. By the end of the campaign, we will have reached over 10 million South Africans where they live.

We will not stop until all South Africans know the truth about the DA's opposition to apartheid.
