ANC WCape warns on Equity Act amendment

Party to urgently prepare submission to Mantashe and Labour minister

ANC cautions on proposed labour change

The Western Cape ANC urgently prepares a submission to the office of ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe in order to ensure that the country's laws don't have the unintended consequences of disadvantaging our people.

The provincial executive committee (PEC) of the Western Cape ANC will also meet with labour minister Mildred Oliphant to inform her of the provincial perspective.

The ANC in the province has responded to reactions to proposed changes in labour legislation, the Employment Equity Act (EEA).

Mr. Songezo Mjongile, secretary of the Western Cape ANC, says: "We caution the likes of the neo-liberal DA, Solidarity and other right wing parties to not stir racial tensions. Mischievous interpretations by the ilk are aimed at entrenching racial polarisation. The issue of job creation remains a key part of the ANC's programme."
