Angie Motshekga should resign - ANCYL

League says minister should also apologise for failing youth of Limpopo

ANCYL Statement on the Limpopo Textbook Crisis

The African National Congress Youth League, together with all South Africans, is extremely perturbed by the ongoing Limpopo text book crisis.

The African National Congress has committed itself to prioritizing education. Never therefore must tenders, service provider issues or beuaractic bungles deny young people, our future, an opportunity to education. To do so and raise these as legitimate reasons is to make a mockery of our hardwon freedom, our struggle and the future we envision.

Given the inability of our deployed cadre to protect our future and the aspiration to open the doors of learning and teaching, we call on Minister Angie Motshekga to do the noble thing and resign from her position.

An apology to the nation for failing the young people of Limpopo is also expected. We must never take our people for granted. We trust that the person who takes over her responsibility will be an individual who is decisive and truly committed to education.

Statement issued by Khusela Sangoni-Khawe, ANC Youth League Head of Communications, July 30 2012
