DA's stunt disgusting - SACP

Party condemns opposition for trying to disqualify President Zuma from office

SACP Congratulates President Zuma for re-election as President of the Republic

The SACP congratulates ANC President Comrade Jacob Zuma for his re-election at the First Sitting of the Fifth democratically elected Parliament as the President of the Republic of South Africa. The Communist Party wishes to express its sincere gratitude for the trust and confidence that millions of our people have shown in the ANC, the Alliance and President Jacob Zuma. We are looking forward to the Fifth administration under the leadership of President Zuma; as a government that will decisively pursue a second, more radical, phase of our transition, characterised by radical economic transformation to benefit the workers and the poor.

Meanwhile, the SACP is disgusted by, and condemns with the contempt it deserves, the conduct displayed by the DA - a party of white privilege and monopoly capital, through its frivolous motion of trying to disqualify President Zuma for office. They were trying these tactics especially because they have failed to hire a credible black candidate as its presidential face and the fact that they lost the general election.

Contrary to what the DA sought and continues to seek to achieve, this is not the time to move South Africa backwards or to hold it back. Through the decisive ANC electoral victory, the people of South Africa have spoken.

The SACP therefore calls upon all South Africans who want to see the consolidation of our democracy and South Africa being moved forward to rally behind the ANC-led government and President Zuma, for the decisive transformation of our country. As South African Communists we will mobilise the working class and all of our people and forces both inside and outside the state to drive the second phase of our transition.
