ANC STATEMENT ON THE DEVELOPMENTS IN LWANDLE SETTLEMENT

The African National Congress welcomes the bold and decisive intervention led by Minister of Transport and the Minister of Human settlement in resolving the Lwandle evictions in the Western Cape last night. 

This intervention will allow the residents of Lwandle informal settlement to return to the land whilst all relevant stakeholders will urgently work to find an alternative land for accomodation in line with prevailing laws.  The ANC in the Western Cape will work with the community to ensure that the unfortunate occurrence is never repeated.
