Mac Maharaj says requests can only be processed when formal communication received from the National Assembly

The Presidency has received media enquiries in relation to the position of the chairperson of the Board of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), Ms Ellen Tshabalala.

President Jacob Zuma has not received a letter from the National Assembly requesting him to suspend Ms Tshabalala.

According to media reports the Portfolio Committee on Communications in the National Assembly has recommended that the Chairperson be suspended. The Presidency can only process requests when formal communication is received from the National Assembly.
