Public Protector submits Shiceka report to Zuma

Parties have opportunity to respond by October 3 2011

PUBLIC PROTECTOR RELEASES A PROVISIONAL REPORT ON AN INVESTIGATION INTO ALLEAGTIONS OF BREACH OF THE EXCECUTIVE CODE BY MINISTER SICELO SHICEKA

The Public Protector, Adv Thuli Madonsela has today released a provisional report on her investigation into allegations of breach of the Executive Code by the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Mr Sicelo Shiceka.

The report was submitted to President Jacob Zuma, Minister Pravin Gordhan and Minister Sicelo Shiceka. The return date on the report is 03 October 2011 and the Public Protector plans to release the final report seven days thereafter. The purpose of releasing a provisional report is to give affected parties an opportunity to respond to provisional findings.

Media's attention is drawn to section (7) 2 of the Public Protector Act which prohibits the disclosure and publication of the contents of the report.
