Tlokwe stays DA for another month at least - Juanita Terblanche

DA MP says during party's brief time in charge city has been cleaned up, irregular expenditure investigated

Tlokwe stays DA for another month at least

Tlokwe municipality will remain DA-governed for another month at least following yesterday's special council meeting.

While a motion for the removal of the mayor was tabled by the ANC this will only be discussed in February.

It is apparent that divisions in the ANC remain deep and could assist the continuation of quality governance in Tlokwe beyond next month as well.

The DA will continue its agenda of clean governance and delivery through the innovative city-wide cleaning campaign.

This initiative has seen Potchefstroom undergo a transformation from illegal dumping and litter hub to a clean and safe city.

The DA-led council is also investigating R267 million worth of irregular expenditure racked up by the previous ANC administration over the past three years.

A motion to completely open tender processes to public scrutiny in Tlokwe was tabled by the DA in yesterday's council meeting.

More important information regarding corruption in Tlokwe will be released soon.

The DA thanks its mayor and councillors in Tlokwe for the sterling work so far and assures residents that the party will continue to use this term of office to promote good governance.
