Zuma condemns killing of Mido Macia

President describes visuals of incident as horrific, disturbing and unacceptable

President Zuma condemns the tragic death of a man in the hands of the police

President Jacob Zuma has condemned the brutal killing of Mr Mido Macia 27, reportedly by members of the SA Police Service at Ekurhuleni Market in Daveyton (see here).

"Members of the South African police service are required to operate within the confines of the law in executing their duties. The visuals of the incident are horrific, disturbing and unacceptable. No human being should be treated in that manner," said President Zuma.

The President extends his heartfelt condolences and those of government to the family of Mr Macia.

The President has directed the Minister of Police to investigate the matter.
