2nd of November march to go ahead as planned – EFF

Demands are that Shaun Abrahams and Jacob Zuma go, Fees Must Fall be taken with a sense of urgency

EFF statement on the planned #DayOfAction march on November 2

31 October 2016

The EFF has noted the decision of the corrupt Shaun Abrahams’ withdrawal of his charges against Minister Pravin Gordhan, and we reiterate that our planned #DayOfAction proceedings will go ahead. The EFF wishes to state categorically that the #DayOfAction event was never about Pravin Gordhan’s court case, even though they coincided on dates which would have worked perfectly for both events.

Our #DayOfAction march is centered around three burning issues:

- The demand for the #FeesMustFall movement to be taken with a sense of urgency and for the student’s demands to be met

- The demand for Shaun Abrahams to resign as the National Director of Public Prosecutions for bringing the NPA into disrepute

- The demand for the State figurehead Jacob Zuma to resign after he failed to uphold his oath of office and adversely affecting the country economically through bad and criminal choices he has made under the control of the compromised Gupta Family

We state that these demands are in no way affected by Shaun Abrahams spurious decision to withdraw the charges against Gordhan. Infact, this decision has further emphasized the need for this incompetent head of the NPA to step down. How does such an important institution of the law rush to the media to announce charging a Minister of Finance before they study the laws under which such a charge is executed? This in an economic climate in which the country’s borrowing capacity could be downgraded. The EFF has thus written a letter to the Bar Council to strike Shaun Abrahams off the roll of Advocates for his shenanigans which have put the NPA into disrepute.

The planned march will also deal with the contentious matter of the #FeesMustFall movement which has crippled the education system primarily because of Government’s lack of understanding of the underlying issues in this struggle. It is clear that this government does not understand the impact of education on the development of society. To them, fee-free and quality education is a transaction that has the potential to tighten the coffers from which they are used to stealing. The EFF has cogently outlined ways in which Fee-free education can be funded and contribute to the advancement of our people. We commend the students for not giving up in this milestone struggle.

The country is also crippled by a corrupt State President who has compromised both his office and the country at large. Gedlehlekisa Zuma has compromised his oath of office by flouting the constitution. He is involved in state capture shenanigans and has sold the country to foreigners who’s only interest is to pillage the country’s coffers. He is also implicated in common crime cases such as the Arms Deal case and the Spy Tapes case. He is the only president to have been tried of rape. The office of the Presidency is often in and out court because of this man’s misdemeanors, and has been highly compromised because of him

The EFF urges society to continue with the planned march I order to decisively deal with these matters of social interest. The march will take place under the following details:
