84% of DA MPs pledge support to Maimane - Campaign

Geordin Hill-Lewis says the numbers are starting to really stack up for the DA leadership candidate

84% of the DA’s Parliamentary Caucus is Voting for Maimane

The Maimane Campaign has now finished canvassing DA Members of Parliament ahead of this weekend’s Congress.

We are pleased to announce that the campaign is firmly on track, with 84% of the DA’s parliamentary caucus pledging their support for Maimane’s candidacy.

This is a resounding vote of confidence in Maimane’s performance as DA Parliamentary Leader over the last year.

It is also significant because each and every DA MP is the head of a constituency in their province. Their vote therefore carries serious weight throughout the party.

The numbers are starting to really stack up for Maimane:

- Four Provincial Leaders have publicly endorsed Maimane

- The Leader of the DA Youth has publicly endorsed Maimane

- Over half of Gauteng’s delegates have publicly pledged their support for Maimane

- 77% of DA Councillors in the Cape Town metro have publicly backed Maimane.

- Out of 150 delegates polled by Rapport newspaper, 125 said they were voting for Maimane. The other 25 were undecided.

We are confident that the momentum will continue to build as we head into the last few days of the campaign. Delegates want a Leader who can grow the party by connecting with new voters. That is why so many are ready to vote for Mmusi Maimane on Sunday.
