AA and BEE lead to outflow of expertise – FF Plus

Jaco Mulder says SA is experiencing a serious shortage of skills amid challenging economic circumstances

Affirmative Action (AA) and Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) lead to outflow of expertise

3 March 2020

The manner in which the South African government is implementing its policy of Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) has for years caused a serious outflow of essential expertise from the country.

Today during his submission to the Portfolio Committee, the FF Plus requested the Minister of Trade and Industry, Ebrahim Patel, to make use of local expertise in the Department's programme for economic growth.

South Africa is experiencing a serious shortage of skills amid challenging economic circumstances while many South Africans who are not part of the government's designated group are forced to find work abroad.

Economic transformation can only happen where there is economic growth. The current redistribution of resources is not sustainable and will only come down to a redistribution of poverty.
