Alliance to discuss Treasury's economic paper – ANC

Party calls on all people of SA and their organised formations, to make inputs that would enrich document

Statement of the Draft Economic Paper released by Treasury

The National Officials of the African National Congress met yesterday and discussed, amongst other issues, the discussion paper authored by National Treasury on economic development.

Both the Chairperson of the ANC Sub-Committee on Economic Development, Enoch Godongwane and the Minister of Finance, Cde Tito Mboweni were invited for this particular discussion.

The meeting resolved that the structures including branches of the ANC should be engaged and be allowed to make comments on the discussion paper to the Economic Transformation Committee (ETC) through its Chairperson, Enoch Godongwane and Andries Nel the National Executive Committee NEC), National Working Committee (NWC) Coordinator. The meeting agreed that the ANC Alliance should also be allowed to discuss this discussion paper within their structures.

The National Officials resolved that the next meeting of the NEC will table the matter for discussion and consider all inputs as stated above. The National Officials calls on our Alliance partners, Mass Democratic Movement formations, civil society, the business community and all people of South Africa and their organised formations, to make inputs that would enrich the document and set the country on a sustained growth trajectory.

Parallel to the ANC process, the national government will continue with its process as originators of the discussion paper.
