ANC desperately grasping at straws in Oudtshoorn – Okkie Terblanche

DA MP says party allegedly tried to bribe deputy mayor and member of another party to turn on coalition partners

ANC on a losing streak, desperately grasping at straws in Oudtshoorn

23 September 2022

The ANC is falling.

It has been widely reported that the ANC in Kannaland allegedly tried this week to bribe the deputy mayor of Oudtshoorn and member of the Suid-Kaap Saamstaan party, to turn on his coalition partners in Oudtshoorn.

This comes as no surprise with their recent loss in Nelson Mandela Bay to the Democratic Alliance. Desperate and illegal tactics to save face are thus to be suspected. The ANC now only governs outright in two metros in the country.

The ANC is completely irrelevant in the Western Cape, and they are slowly but surely crumbling elsewhere.

We commend the Deputy Mayor, Mlandeli Nyuka, for honouring his commitment to the coalition.

The DA fully supports Oudtshoorn Mayor, Chris Mcpherson’s intentions to write to the Western Cape Minister of Local Government and for steps to be taken against the alleged culprits
