DA again challenges ANC to reveal still anonymous Mayoral Candidates

Gwede Mantashe promised the people of South Africa that the ANC would reveal its Mayoral Candidates within 10 days. 14 days later and Luthuli House remains silent, refusing to provide the electorate a real opportunity to interrogate its candidates and record of government. 

When interviewed on Eye Witness News, Mr Mantashe stated that the ANC would release the list of Mayoral Candidates upon completion of its IEC submissions. These submissions have since been made and still no names have been released.

 The reality is that the ANC is more interested in defending the corrupt, than providing an honest government. Indeed, Jacob Zuma's party doesn't want to be scrutinised by the public, because they know what many people across our country know: the ANC governs like black lives don't matter. 

ANC-run municipalities have shown that they have abandoned the communities which they vowed to serve. Instead of better service delivery and more jobs, ANC Mayors have indulged in the pursuit of self-interest and self-enrichment with impunity.

Billions of rands have been lost and squandered by ANC administrations; jobs have been handed to pals; tenders have been awarded to insiders; and unemployment has increased. It is getting harder for the poor and vulnerable in ANC-run towns and cities to live. 

Where the DA governs, we are making progress. There is still much more to do, but we are creating jobs, delivering clean and honest government, and providing better services to poor communities. We have a record that we are proud of, and which we are prepared to defend. We also have a plan for realchange to offer our people. 

We have no reason to hide. We have revealed our Mayoral Candidates and we are prepared to debate the ANC anywhere, any time. 14 days later, we again challenge the ANC to come out of hiding and to reveal their Mayoral Candidates now.

The DA is ready to bring real change to Nelson Mandela Bay, Tshwane, Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni and many other places across our beautiful nation. This is the change that will stop corruption, deliver better services, and create jobs. This is the change we need to move our country forward again.
