The African National Congress (ANC) extends its condolences to members of the South African and continental journalism fraternity on the loss of seasoned communicator, Hope Zinde who has passed away.

Media reports suggest Ms. Zinde died in tragic circumstances, which has to be confirmed by the South African Police Service (SAPS).

The late Ms. Zinde was a well-respected journalist who began her career at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), and rose through the ranks to become an Executive Producer and anchor of a number of current affairs shows on SABC Africa.

She was known for her passion and dedication to her craft, as well as her role in mentoring younger journalists.

Her expertise and experience in broadcasting saw her appointed as a non-executive director of the SABC Board. She played a formative role in advancing the cause of public broadcasting in South Africa.

An experienced communications professional she also worked as a communications advisor to a number of blue chip clients, including Coca Cola SA, as well as for the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), World Bank and various government entities.

The South African communications landscape has lost a committed professional who left an indelible mark on the industry as a whole, and the ANC extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the late Ms. Zinde.
