ANC promises to scrap bills in exchange of votes – Joe McGluwa

DA says ruling party using state resources to help put them back in power

ANC promises to scrap bills in exchange of votes

20 May 2016

The Democratic Alliance in North West is not surprised by the ANC’s vote buying tactic in Danville, Mahikeng. Once again, Jacob Zuma’s ANC is using state resources to buy votes to help put the ruling party back in power after the upcoming Local Government Elections.

They have traded in their infamous food parcels for debt relief to secure votes.

This week, the ANC visited Danville and promised to scrap residents water and electricity bills if they voted ANC.

It is clear that the ANC only cares about securing votes and are not interested in addressing service delivery needs including proper housing, water and sanitation, lack of infrastructure, unemployment and many other challenges that are affecting the people.

The DA supports measures to help alleviate poverty and better the plight of our communities if it is sustainable and not only during election times.

While the ANC is on their trail of vote buying, residents in Lomanyaneng, Setlopo and other surrounding villages in Mahikeng are still protesting over the lack of service delivery in their areas.

They are angry about the condition of their roads. The road is so bad that even ambulances cannot go into the villages. Residents claim that government has been promising to build a new road since 2000.

The DA is amused by the sudden fixing of streetlights in the province, pavements are cleaned up, pot holes get fixed in strategic areas, garbage are picked up and removed. These are essential services that should be rendered every day – not only during election times.

The DA urges the ANC to put the interest of residents above cheap political tactics. The government need to properly address the many challenges that our communities face on a daily basis.

The DA is the only party that will bring change by stopping corruption, creating jobs and delivering better services to all residents in the North West province.
