ANCWL expresses sadness over death of Florence Nyanda

League send condolences to Siphiwe Nyanda and other family members

RE: ANCWL SALUTES FALLEN COMRADES

It has been an extremely sad week for the ANC, we have seen three of our beloved comrades pass away this past week. First it was Cde Sicelo Shiceka, the ANCWL would like to send our deepest sympathies to the family of the late former minister and thank them for the contributions he made to this country and its liberation.

It was tragic when not even a week later we lost another long standing member, the honourable Minister, Comrade Roy Padayachie, while on a government trip to Ethopia. We again send our sympathies to his family who are mourning during this time, but they can be proud of the contribution Padayachie has made. He served the country and its people to his last day and will be revered as a champion of the poor.

It was with a deep sense of sadness that the ANCWL learnt of the passing of the Women's League's very own, ANC MP in parliament, Cde Florence Nyanda. She was a long standing member of the WL and a champion for women's rights and gender equality. To her brother, General Siphiwe Nyanda, and the rest of her family we send our heartfelt condolences and we truly share in their loss.

Today flags across the country will fly at half mast in honour of these fallen comrades. As the ANC Women's League we salute you all, thank you for your contributions and we continue the work of the Mass Democratic Movement in your honour...
