ANCYL in a mess - AfriForum Youth

Henk Maree says League has ceased to be a significant role player among country's youth

ANC Youth League in shambles

AfriForum Youth welcomes the announcement that the national task team of the ANC Youth League has been dissolved by the ANC top management. AfriForum Youth says this was not a surprise, as the Youth League hasn't been seen as a role player among South Africa's youth for years.

"The decline in support for the ANC Youth League was especially experienced on campuses over the last couple of years. During student representative council elections, the Youth League no longer has the support they won years ago," Henk Maree, National Chairman of AfriForum Youth, said.

The concerns of the ANC top management regarding the chaos at local level of the Youth League as well as the alleged charges of corruption against a presidential candidate is also not a surprise.

"During a recent meeting of the ANC, chairs were literally flying among its members. The ANC Youth League gets its example of corruption from the ANC top management and the president of our country. The Youth League is merely following in the lopsided footsteps of the governing party," Maree concluded.
