Union against any form of corruption and believes in principle of innocent until proven guilty

SADTU NW statement on the arrest of administrator of the North West Education Department

17 November 2021

The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union in the North West (SADTU NW) has noted the media statement released by the Department of Basic Education (DBE) on the arrest of the administrator of North West education department.

The union further notes that the minister has committed to move swiftly to appoint another person to take over in the interest of ensuring that the administration of the department is not compromised. The DBE must, in appointing the administrator, take into account experience, ethical conduct and the best interest of education as whole. We urge the DBE to provide all the support to overcome the challenges.

SADTU is against any form of corruption and believes in the principle of being presumed innocent until proven guilty; so we shall await the outcome of the trial.

The union has confidence in the ability of the courts to dispense justice without fear, favour or prejudice.
