Arrest of an EFF councillor involved in land grab welcomed – DA Tshwane

Commends the Coalition Govt's work on preventing 3 illegal land invasions on city-owned property

DA welcomes the arrest of an EFF Councillor involved in land grab

14 October 2022

The DA welcomes the swift response by the Tshwane Metro Police Department in preventing a land grab led by the EFF in Ga-Rankuwa. We further applaud the arrest of an EFF councillor involved.

During September 2022, the DA reported another EFF councillor to the Tshwane Speaker and the South African Public Defender for his involvement in a land grab  on private property in Olievenhoutbosch.

While the DA acknowledges that housing is a problem, it is unacceptable that our residents - in need of dignified housing - are used as a political football and we will ensure that the EFF is held accountable for their actions in this regard.

The DA commends the Tshwane Coalition Government's work on preventing 3 illegal land invasions on city-owned property in the last two weeks and we call on residents to report land invasions to TMPD on 012 358 7095/6
