COSATU KZN statement of the untimely death of Cde Sbu Sibiya, ANC Ethekwini Regional Secretary

COSATU KZN has learned with shock and sadness about the untimely death of Cde Sbu Sibiya, ANC eThekwini Regional Secretary.  He was gunned down last night whilst reaching home in Inanda.  This is the worst and most callous act of cowardice that all of us, as law abiding citizens, must condemn in the strongest possible terms.

Cde Sbu was a true servant of the people, who had absolute hatred of corrupt practices and was very loyal to the revolutionary cause of our people.  He served all organisations of our revolutionary movement with due commitment and dedication.

We are quite worried about what seems to be a developing trend within eThekwini, where leadership is seen as an easy target for assassination.  As COSATU, we condemn this dastardly act of criminality. We appeal to the powers that be to ensure that the guilty individuals are brought to book.  We will not rest as this federation until justice is not just done but seen to be done.

As COSATU we extend our condolences and deepest sympathy to his family and the ANC for this tragic loss.  We are in mourning with them at this darkest hour that has befallen them.
