DA confirms death of uMngeni Municipality Chief Whip

The Democratic Alliance in KwaZulu-Natal has learnt with shock and disbelief of the murder of the DA Chief Whip in the uMngeni Municipality, Councillor Nhlalayenza Ndlovu a short while ago.

The exact circumstances around his death have yet to be confirmed.

The DA sends its heartfelt condolences to the family of Councillor Ndlovu, the DA caucus in uMngeni and the residents of the municipality that have lost a humble servant who always put the needs of those he served above his own. He will be sorely missed.

We urge the South African Police Service to bring Councillor Ndlovu’s killers to book without delay.

DA KZN Premier Campaign suspended until further notice

6 December 2023

The Premier Campaign has learnt with great shock and sadness of the brutal murder of DA uMngeni Chief Whip, Councillor Nhlalayenza Ndlovu.

We echo the sentiments of our Provincial Leader, Francois Rodgers in asking that the South African Police Service (SAPS) speedily investigates and bring his murderers to book.

In light of this tragedy, the DA KZN Premier Campaign will suspend all political campaigning to offer the Mayor Chris Pappas, the uMngeni DA Caucus and the family and friends of Councillor Ndlovu time to grieve.

While details remain unclear at present, the campaign extends its apologies to all communities affected. Further communication will be made available in due course.
