DA launches reporting line for incitement of violence

22 July 2021

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) has launched a reporting line for residents to report incidents of incitement in the province.

DA representatives in KZN have been receiving messages from concerned residents who themselves have been receiving messages containing disturbing content of further incitement of violence. In a proactive response, the DA in KZN has now set up a platform for concerned residents to report any information that they may receive.

During the spike in rural attacks and murders, the DA set up a similar platform that worked well in reporting and following up on incidents where individuals and groups were found to be inciting racially based farm attacks. One of these cases are now heard by the courts.

The DA will collate the information received and through our representatives in the Provincial Legislature and National Assembly, report the verified cases to the relevant authorities – namely the state intelligence structures and the Human Rights Commission.

Residents can report incidents to: [email protected]

Residents are urged to include as much information as possible including screengrabs, time stamps, cell numbers, social media platforms, etc. The more information, the easier it is to investigate.

The DA is and will remain at the centre of rational politics based on constitutionalism. Law and order must be resorted and those responsible for the uprising and riots must be held accountable. There can be no healing or change in KZN if those responsible are not brought to book and the culture of violence stamped out.
