DA Limpopo welcomes 1000 members from ANC - Jacques Smalle

DA welcomes 1000 members from ANC

17 August 2015

Today the Democratic Alliance in Limpopo welcomed up to a one thousand new members from the ANC. Some of these members served as ANC councillors and leaders of ANC structures in the Mogalakwena and Polokwane regions, along with hundreds of associated branch members.

During a media briefing in Polokwane today the DA handed over blue DA t-shirts and membership cards to the new members, including five former ANC councillors, and a number of branch chairpersons, youth chairpersons, as well as an ANC Women’s League chairperson.

The new members come to the DA after having become disillusioned with President Zuma’s ANC, and have identified the DA as their true political home.

This comes after DA Leader Mmusi Maimane spent this weekend in Limpopo, on the ground among communities in Tzaneen, Thabazimbi and Polokwane, where people pledged their support for the DA and their hope for a better future under DA governance.

The DA is a political home for all people, who ascribe to the values of freedom, fairness and opportunity. The shift of members from the ANC to the DA is a sign of the realignment of politics in South Africa, and an endorsement of the delivery record of the DA.

These new members recognise that where the DA governs, life improves, services are delivered and jobs are created.

The ANC in Limpopo continues to lose not only votes, but also senior members and leaders.

The DA marks today as an historic shift from the ANC’s uncaring governance of Limpopo, toward DA governance that will deliver; and which will improve the lives of all people.
