DA welcomes the exoneration of Glynnis Breytenbach

The DA welcomes the exoneration of commercial crime prosecutor Glynnis Breytenbach on all charges and calls for her immediate reinstatement after a year of absence from the National Prosecuting Authority (see Sapa report).

The once superb Specialised Commercial Crimes Unit had already suffered the loss of its leader Adv. Chris Jordaan during the tenure of Adv. Menzi Simelane as National Director of Public Prosecutions when Adv. Breytenbach was suspended. She must now be allowed to return to work.

The NPA probably had no idea that the forensic skills of Adv. Wim Trengove would be unleashed upon it when it piled up charge upon charge against Adv. Breytenbach.

We trust the Prosecuting Authority has learnt a lesson.

Statement issued by Dene Smuts MP, DA Shadow Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, May 27 2013
