DA Western Cape ready for 29 May elections – Alan Winde

Premier says with only a 48 hours left to register, South Africans must make sure they’re able to vote this year

48 hours left to register: DA Western Cape ready for 29 May elections

21 February 2024

The Democratic Alliance in the Western Cape encourages all South Africans not yet registered for the national and provincial elections on 29 May 2024, to make sure they are registered to vote before Friday, 23 February 2024.

The DA was the first party out of the blocks to launch its 2024 election campaign in the Western Cape and has been running an extensive registration campaign since mid-2023. We set an ambitious target for registrations and have exceeded this target significantly, allowing more voters to choose the DA. Remember you cannot vote on 29 May if you are not registered.

From the onset, we stated that we want an outright majority to build on our progress of the past 15 years of DA governance in the province. Our campaign is all systems go, with myself and the provincial leadership continuing to visit all corners of the province to engage with voters.

We launched our Registration Bus in September 2023 and the bus has been covering various regions in the province and will continue to visit the whole Western Cape to meet our voters.

Our activists and public representatives have been out and about every second weekend for Blue Saturdays and will be available to assist voters to register until registrations close this Friday.

We will continue with our extensive poster and leaflet campaign and look forward to our Manifesto Launch in the coming weeks to inform voters of our successes delivered and our offer to lead this province again.

The DA’s 15 years at the helm of the Western Cape have led to economic prosperity and service delivery that far exceeds any other province in the country.

In the last year the DA has created over 370 000 jobs in the Western Cape; since the launch of the safety plan we have deployed over 1 300 LEAP officers in crime hot spots and rural areas across the province to make communities safer; and we along with municipalities across the province are spending over R7 billion to fight loadshedding in the Western Cape. This investment will enable the private sector to step in with hundreds of billions of rand of investment that will help us make the Western Cape the first province to beat load shedding.

The DA’s record of success stands in stark contrast to our opposition’s extensive and continued failures that have eroded health care and basic education; facilitated state capture and corruption; and destroyed the economy. South Africans live in unsafe squalor every day because the ANC government cares more about cadre deployment and jobs for pals than service delivery. The DA is the only party that works. Vote DA to rescue South Africa and keep the Western Cape working.
