Do the Zuma spy tapes even exist? - Mosioua Lekota

COPE leader says Jackson Mthembu's response reveals his ignorance of the constitution

MOSIUOA LEKOTA RESPONSE TO THE ANC

The ANC's Jackson Mthembu's criticism to my call for impeachment of President Jacob Zuma regarding the withholding of information contained in the tapes reveals his ignorance of the constitution. Members of opposition in legislatures in particular are obliged to hold the President accountable in ensuring that he respect and safeguard his oath of office and provisions of constitution.

My call for impeachment of the President has to do with the fact that the President has failed to lead the executive to fulfil the ruling of the judiciary.

The statements I am making are in the arena of politics, not romance (even if it is spring time). If President Zuma was really and truly inclined to champion the Constitution he would have long instructed Mr. Hulley to obey the judicial order. What has he to be afraid of?

If there was no wrong doing on his part there can be no criminal charges against him. The suspicion is now mounting that the tapes do not exist and the 300 criminal charges should therefore stand. South Africa was quite possibly duped in the most staggering manner in all our history.

In the USA Obama and Romney have been holding public debates. I challenge President Zuma to a public debate about his commitment to the Constitution. Ms. Zille has also challenged him. Why shouldn't such debates occur? If the tables were turned, the ANC would be demanding the same from us.
