ECape interim structures being restructured - EFF

War Council also endorsed the Provincial Command Team's recommendations for its own disbandment

The EFF statement on the restructuring of the interim structures of the Eastern Cape Province

14 April 2014

The War Council of the Economic Freedom Fighters met in the Eastern Cape, Port Elizabeth, on Monday 13 April 2015, together with the Provincial Command Team (""PCT""), Regional Command Teams (""RCTs"") of OR Tambo, Alfred Nzo, Buffalo City, Chris Hani, Nelson Mandela, Joe Gqabi, Amathole, and Cacadu. This extended War Council meeting was preceded by general meetings in all regions which included all the RCTs and existing branches of the EFF whose purpose was to listen and hear what challenges there may be and what solutions could be suggested by fighters.

The War Council, mainly on anonymous recommendations by these general meetings, inclusive of RCTs and branches, has decided to disband all the interim regional structures in OR Tambo Region, Chris Hani Region, Cacadu Region, Alfred Nzo Region, Joe Gqabi Region and Amathole Region.

These general meetings also recommended that the Central Command Team (""CCT"") should directly oversee a process of reviving the structures towards Regional Peoples Assemblies (""RPAs"") that will elect the new leadership to take these regions forward.

The War Council has therefore endorsed this proposal and has since deployed CCT members in the following manner across all regions with that still have interim structures:

OR Tambo: Commissar Mbuyiseni Ndlozi

Cacadu: Commissar Fana Mokoena

Amathole: Commissar Veronica Mente

Chris Hani: Commissar Sam Matease

Alfer Nzo: Commissar Roger Xalisa

Joe Gqabi: Commissar Mmabatho Makause

These commissars will in the immediate facilitate an audit of all branches, and convene a general meeting of all branches of the EFF to develop a program of action towards the Regional Peoples Assembly. The commissars will also launch branches, together with coordinators that will be coming from outside the province and guide the region until it reaches the stage of launching.

The regions of Nelson Mandela and Bufallo City have successfully gone to regional assemblies on time in 2014 and have elected leadership. The War Council has however deployed commissars Nkagisang Mokgosi in Bufallo City and commissar Nathasha Louw in Nelson Mandela to guide these regions towards regional plenums and political schools that will see them come up with a program of action.

Finally, the War Council also endorsed the Provincial Command Team's recommendations for its own disbandment. Accordingly the Eastern Cape PCT is disbanded and PCT members are to go back to build their branches. Commissar Mlungisi Rapolile, a CCT member, will now precide over the provincial activities and facilitate all regions towards a Provincial Peoples Assembly (""PPA""). In addition, Fighter Luthando Amos has been appointed full-time Student Command Coordinator whose responsibility is to ensure that all institutions of higher learning in the province launch EFF branches towards the national launch of the EFF Student Command.

The following concrete deadlines have therefore been agreed to:

Special cadres forum to be convened on the weekend of 18th and 19th April to do membership audit across all regions and branches, and develop a programme of action to recruit and launch branches.

Convene political schools on the weekend of 25th and 26th across all regions to deal with the Constitution of EFF, Founding Manifesto and guidelines to Branch, regional and Provincial People's Assemblies.

All branches must be launched by end of May in all regions.

Perform branch audit for the RPA and PPA on the weekend of 6th and 7th June

Regional People's Assemblies must sit in the weekend of 13th and 14th June 2015 in all outstanding regions

The Provincial People's Assembly must sit on the 27th to 28th of June 2015

The leadership knows that people of the Eastern Cape want the EFF and that the Eastern Cape is indeed the home of the EFF. These resolutions are to ensure that this comes to pass. As things stand, the Eastern Cape is the only province where the EFF has not gone to an assembly and thus successfully demobilised interim structures and elected its own leadership at all levels. This however, is going to change by end of June this year.

The War Council appeals to all fighters to embrace this programme and that we all work hard to achieve it as per the agreed deadlines. This is in particular because these resolutions came as a strong recommendation of regions and the provincial leadership itself after extensive consultations from bottom up.

Asijiki, Siyagijima!
