Emmanuel Sithole's killers must be hunted down - Kate Lorimer

DA MPL says heart-rending photographs published by Sunday Times key to solving case

Emmanuel Sithole's killers must be hunted down

19 April 2015

The monsters who stalked and killed Mozambican Emmanuel Sithole in Alexandra yesterday must be hunted down and prosecuted to the full extent of the law (see Sunday Times reports here and here).

The heart-rending photographs which show him begging for mercy and crawling along a rubbish-strewn street are the key to finding his killers.

The SAPS were able to quickly track down the muggers of SABC presenter Vuyo Mvoko, as the deed was captured on camera. They should therefore be able to track down these murderers just as quickly.

Provincial Commissioner Lesetja Mothiba must use every tool (including the offer of a reward) and every SAPS member he can, to find and arrest these men. They cannot be allowed to get away with this brutal act.

If we, as South Africans, do not make an example of them, we are failing ourselves and all those people under threat. We have to show we are serious about punishing

Xenophobic thugs who are shaming us across the globe.

If we do not, we are as guilty of Mr Sithole’s death as those who killed him.
