DA wins big in hotly contested by-elections in George

The DA prevailed at yesterday’s by-elections in George, despite many attempts by opposition parties to derail our campaign efforts. By-elections were hotly contested in wards 16, 20 and 27, of which the DA won wards 16 and 27, and significantly increased its support in ward 20. In ward 16, the DA more than doubled it's support.

The voters of New Dawn Park, Pacaltsdorp and surrounds, held fast and was impervious to undue influence and fake news by the opposition. Residents chose to vote for good governance and service delivery.

We wish to thank every voter who made the effort, faced the cold and wet weather, and came out to vote for the DA.

The results are as follows:

Ward 16:

DA – 46.05 - 996 VOTES (2021 – 24.64% - 496 votes)

ANC – 1.43% - 31 VOTES (2021 – 3.08% - 62 votes)

EFF – 0.79% - 17 VOTES (2021 – 0.75% - 15 votes)

PA – 22.38% - 484 VOTES (2021 – 5.91% - 119 votes)

GOOD – 14.70% - 318 VOTES (2021 – 38.80% - 781 votes)

PBI – 14.56% - 315 VOTES (2021 – 22.65% - 456 votes)

ARA – 0.09% - 2 VOTES (2021 – 0.10% - 2 votes)

% Poll – 44.24%

Ward 27:

DA – 35.85% - 594 VOTES (2021 – 29.96% - 600 votes)

EFF – 0.84% - 14 VOTES (2021 – 0.45% - 9 votes)

PA – 18.29% - 303 VOTES (2021 – 5.59% - 112 votes)

GOOD – 26.01% - 431 VOTES (2021 – 36.20% - 725 votes)

PBI – 18.89% - 313 VOTES (2021 – 25.31% - 507 votes)

ARA – 0.12% - 2 VOTES (2021 – 0% - 0 votes)

% Poll – 47.63%

These wards are now in the capable hands of Theresa Jeyi and Marchell Kleynhans, and we are confident that they will serve their respective communities with passion and integrity.
