Gladys Bogoshi a bad choice for Charlotte Maxeke CEO - Jack Bloom

DA MPL says Bogoshi previously ran Helen Joseph Hospital badly, not even a qualified doctor

BAD CHOICE FOR NEW JOBURG HOSPITAL CEO

I am hugely concerned by the choice of Mrs Gladys Bogoshi to replace Dr Barney Selebano as Chief Executive Officer of Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital.

Bogoshi was previously CEO of the Helen Joseph Hospital which was very poorly run and deteriorated under her leadership.

She should have been fired long ago, but will now run a much larger and more complex hospital.

Dr Selebano did his best under very adverse conditions and was respected by all the staff for his open approach.

Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi was very poorly advised in choosing Mrs Bogoshi who is not even a qualified doctor.

She was previously a physiotherapist and lacks real management skills.

The Gauteng Health Department should not have ceded the selection process to the national minister.

I will insist that the Gauteng Legislature's health portfolio committee is fully informed about how Mrs Bogoshi was appointed.

Her appointment should be reviewed if possible as it is essential that this flagship hospital has the best possible management.
