The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) celebrates a resounding victory in the recent by-elections held in Ward 2 of Phongolo Municipality and Ward 11 of Osizweni in Newcastle.

In Ward 2 of Phongolo, situated in the far North of KZN, the IFP retained its seat with an impressive 890 votes, surpassing the MK's 687 votes, while the ANC garnered 595 votes and the EFF received only 52 votes.

Similarly, in Ward 11 of Osizweni, Newcastle, the IFP once again demonstrated its growing support by clinching victory with a remarkable 1,298 votes.

This victory marks a significant achievement as the IFP triumphed over the ANC, which received 388 votes, TSSA with 383 votes, and the EFF with 164 votes.

These outcomes reflect the enduring trust and confidence that the people of KZN place in the IFP.

The overwhelming support received in these by-elections serves as a strong indication of the electorate's endorsement of the IFP's vision and leadership.

The IFP in KZN extends heartfelt gratitude to its dedicated ground forces, volunteers, members, and leaders who tirelessly campaigned and engaged with communities.

In particular we wish to thank Newcastle Mayor Xolani Dube and Acting Phongola mayor, Mr Thwala.

Their commitment and efforts played a pivotal role in securing these victories.

Furthermore, the IFP acknowledges and honours the legacy of the late IFP Founder and President Emeritus, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi. His principles of respect, humility, servant leadership and diligence continue to inspire and guide the party.

As the newly-elected councillors prepare to serve their respective communities, the IFP urges them to uphold the highest standards of integrity and to emulate the exemplary conduct of Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.

With humility and dedication, they are entrusted to fulfill their duties and serve the people of Osizweni in Newcastle and Ward 2 in Phongolo.
