ANC launches information toolkit on Covid-19 for structures, members and volunteers

The African National Congress (ANC) today launches an information toolkit dubbed "COVID-19 information sheet - Protect Yourself. Defend Each Other: Let's do it together", as part of its ongoing organisational drive supporting efforts to curb and eradicate the Coronavirus outbreak.

The ANC COVID-19 comprehensive information sheet is targeted at structures, members and volunteers involved in community mobilization during these period when the rest of all patriotic South Africans are expected to be involved in the fight against the spread of the pandemic.

ANC COVID-19 Information Sheet empowers members and all structures of the ANC to understand how they can protect themselves and their fellow citizens against the threat posed by the virus. More importantly, it outlines roles and responsibilities of ANC structures in the fight to defeat COVID-19. COVID-19 Information Sheet is being shared within our structures and can now be found on all ANC social media platforms.

The ANC shares the sentiment expressed by the State President of the Republic of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa when he declared a National State of Disaster encouraging undertakings of mass communication campaigns on good hygiene and effective prevention behaviour.

A focused public awareness campaign is therefore a critical component of our organisations battle plan to overcome the spread of coronavirus. This will go a long way in arresting the spread of the virus. An informed public is the most effective weapon against the spread of infectious diseases. Accordingly, the ANC calls on all its structures to work with the rest of society and be at the forefront of community efforts to combat the spread of the virus.

The ANC urges all South Africans to Protect themselves and Defend Each Other by doing the following:

- Washing your hands regularly and thoroughly with soap and water.

- When you cough or sneeze, please cover your mouth with your bent elbow or tissue.

- Keep a safe distance between yourself and the person who is coughing or sneezing.

- Make sure that your homes and workplaces are clean and hygienic.

- If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, you must seek medical attention without delay.

The information sheet will also be disseminated to all our members through our network of structures as well as our internal cloud system.
