SAZF condemns Iran's attack on Israel

Federation says this marks yet another chapter in long-standing hostilities against world’s only Jewish state

SA Zionist Federation statement in response to Iranian attack on Israel

14 April 2024

The South African Zionist Federation (SAZF) staunchly condemns Iran’s unprecedented attack on Israel, which included 170 drones, 30 cruise missiles, and 120 ballistic missiles at Israeli targets.

We express our gratitude towards the United States, United Kingdom, France, Jordan and Saudi Arabia for their crucial support in intercepting 99% of the over 300 Iranian projectiles fired at Israel. The regional defence alliance comprising Israel, the United States, European nations, and Arab states has just come into effect and played a pivotal role in neutralising the attack and saving numerous lives.

Iran's prolonged war against Israel marks yet another chapter in its long-standing hostilities against the world’s only Jewish state. The Hamas attacks of October 7 in the South and the ongoing hostilities from Hezbollah in the North are a stark reminder of the continuous challenges Israel faces. No other nation has its right to exist being constantly questioned and threatened militarily. Israel remains strong and resilient and will overcome these adversities.

We urge the South African government to assess its position and align its stance with the prevailing global consensus on this critical issue.
