It's the DA that's fueling tensions - ANC WCape

Party rejects and denounces Ivan Meyer's claims it is stirring up trouble in province

DA aggravates tensions

The DA fans and fuels racial tension in the Western Cape as it spreads rumours and false information.

The DA is once again fabricating so-called confirmation to support its agenda to blame the ANC for its own failures and inability to deal with the substance of issues, like improving service delivery.

Instead of facing the real issue at present - which is many farmers pay their labourers the bare least possible as they hide behind the minimum wage determination - the DA sides with farmers and fail to denounce the oppression and exploitation of such vulnerable people as farmworkers.

In the vein of the insistence by DA leaders like MEC's Theuns Botha and Anton Bredell to certain councillors to make untruthful affidavits and the production of documents for the so-called Operation Reclaim, the DA has now produced a hoax pamphlet and made dishonest claims about the ANC.

"The new provincial DA leader Ivan Meyer has learned well from his masters or he is following instructions to continue the tradition. He now tries to frame the ANC for the spontaneous and organic dissatisfaction amongst farm workers in order to justify the tired DA refrain that the ANC is responsible for the mess.

"There is no organiser by that name in the ANC. The DA is clearly behind the leaflet as it targets the ANC and its people of Villiersdorp only in order to stoke unrest and expectations to get money. It is a hoax born in the heart and hands of DA supporters in its Villiersdorp right-wing.

"The ANC rejects and denounces such tactics. It should be read with the DA leaders sending SMS messages to farmworkers to warn them they may lose their jobs (under Helen Zille's name) and also viral messages claiming people in Villiersdorp's houses will be burnt down on Saturday. This causes panic and uncertainty. It invites unruly behaviour and unwanted characters to get involved.

"In Villiersdorp the DA has now pitted people against each other and that is not good for the province or our country. Racial slur against blacks in Villiersdorp does not contribute to nation-building or normalisation of relations between people of diverse origen," says ANC Western Cape secretary Songezo Mjongile.
