Jabu Mabuza's resignation long overdue - EFF

Fighters call on Minister Pravin Gordhan to do the same

EFF WELCOMES JABU MABUZA'S RESIGNATION AND CALLS ON PRAVIN GORDHAN TO FOLLOW

Friday, 10 January 2020

The EFF welcomes the resignation of Eskom Chair Jabu Mabuza and calls on Minister Pravin Gordhan to follow suit. Mabuza's resignation at the power utility is long overdue. He has demonstrated complete incompetence and absolute ignorance about energy and Eskom in general.

It is however not enough that he resigns alone. The minister of Public Enterprises, Pravin Gordhan must also follow and resign. He too is at the center of the confusion, incompetence, paralysis and the lack of direction suffered by Eskom.

We call on his immediate resignation; nothing under his watch is working in terms of State Owned Enterprises. No one, in the past 12 months in the cabinet, has been as complete a failure as Gordhan has been. He has also demonstrated empty arrogance; putting state assets in a dire situation in an attempt to justify their privatisation. In this regard, he is also completely dangerous.

The future of more SOE's starts with the immediate departure of Gordhan. If he does not resign; we call on Ramaphosa to dismiss him and get someone who believes in these entities being state-owned to take his role.
