'Jobs for Cash': Motshekga mustn't be intimidated by SADTU - Gavin Davis

DA MP says the union is trying to muddy the water ahead of release of damning report against it

‘Jobs for Cash’: Minister Motshekga must not be intimidated by SADTU

26 March 2016

The DA rejects SADTU’s attempt today to rubbish the ‘Jobs for Cash’ report before it has been publicly released.

SADTU is playing political games because it knows that the ‘Jobs for Cash’ report will expose the damage that SADTU is doing to our education system.

The ‘Jobs for Cash’ report will show how SADTU-aligned officials are taking bribes in return for allocating teaching posts. It will also show how 6 out of 9 provincial education departments have been captured by SADTU.

We call on Minister Motshekga to stand firm in the face of SADTU intimidation, and to release the ‘Jobs for Cash’ report within the timeframe she committed to on Thursday.

The time has come to break SADTU’s stranglehold on our education system. This is the only way we are going to ensure that learners from disadvantaged backgrounds are given the opportunities they need to emerge from poverty.
