Magwaza-Msibi letter a hoax - ANC

ANC DISMISSES HOAX LETTER REGARDING FORMER IFP MAGWAZA-MSIBI

The African National Congress (ANC) dismisses with the strongest contempt any allegation contained in a hoax letter from some faceless quarters who have come up with a political concoction claiming that the departure of former Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) leader Zanele Magwaza-Msibi is as a result of ANC involvement. We believe that ourselves and the IFP should do our utmost best to unmask the originators of this hoax letter and find out their intention.

At no stage did the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ANC ever discuss the recruitment of Mrs Magwaza-Msibi and her followers to its ranks. At no stage did the NEC of the ANC ever offer Mrs Magwaza-Msibi an MEC position in the province of KwaZulu-Natal.

At no stage did the NEC of the ANC give any support to Mrs Magwaza-Msibi to address her problems within her party, the IFP. At no stage did the ANC Youth League (ANCYL) "mobilised the youth to destabilise strongholds of the IFP through propaganda mechanism." All these allegations contained in this hoax letter were never ever discussed in any the ANC or ANCYL structure at national or provincial level.

It is very distressing and disingenuous of the IFP leadership - while knowing very well the reasons for Mrs Magwaza-Msibi's departure from their ranks - to then put the blame on the ANC, on the basis on a non credible hoax letter. The IFP leadership knows very well that the hoax letter they put so much credence on, does not carry any letterhead of the ANC and is not signed by any leader of the ANC. Even the language that is used in the hoax letter, including phrases like "destabilising IFP strongholds.....Inkatha must die once and for all," is not a language you will find in ANC vocabulary.

We call on the IFP to make a self introspection on the departure of Mrs Magwa-Msibi. It is our view that Mrs Magwaza-Msibi departed because of internal problems within the leadership and the ranks of the IFP, something she is on record for having said so many times. To point a finger at the ANC and even to stoop so low as to claim that the ANC made financial offers to Mrs Magwaza-Msibi is akin to burying their (IFP leaders') heads in the sand. We once again appeal to them to leave the ANC out of their internal political problems.
