Malema won't take up IUSY VP post - ANCYL

Youth League says thanks but no thanks to nomination

ANCYL MEDIA STATEMENT ON THE NON ACCEPTANCE OF THE NOMINATION TO IUSY

22 April 2012

The ANC Youth League  extends its gratitude to all international organisations who are members of IUSY who showed confidence in nominating the president of the ANCYL Cde Julius Malema to be part of the Presidium of IUSY as a Vice President.

The ANC Youth League has served two terms in the leadership of IUSY represented by Cde Vuyiswas Tulelo who served the organisation diligently as one of the Vice President. The ANC YL previously occupied the position of President of IUSY through President Fikile Mbalula, and we currently lead the Pan African Youth Union as President through Comrade Andile Lungisa. The ANC Youth League did not accept the nomination at the Congress for any position in the Presidium of IUSY as we need to focus on the domestic challenges we face. The ANC Youth League will continue to provide ideological leadership to all progressive forces in the African continent and the world.

We therefore persuaded all countries to support Western Sahara as the candidate for Vice President which is the last colony in Africa which the ANCYL we has been campaigning for the liberation of the people of Western Sahara. We believe that Western Sahara's occupation of the IUSY Presidium seat with provide the progressive forces of Western Sahara the necessary platform to make the world aware of the plight of the last colony in the world.

We would like to extend our thanks in all youth organizations who have faith in the leadership of the ANCYL. These are trying times in the history of the ANCYL and we do not want to divert our attention, we want to focus on economic freedom in our lifetime in order to liberate our people from poverty, unemployment an inequality. Maximum focus is required to carry out all the political and ideological battles in the country and that is where our attention and energy will be until liberation.
