Mark Lifman was neither on stage nor on our guest list - ANC WCape

Party dismisses the baseless allegations by DA's Ivan Meyer against Marius Fransman

Meyer conceals DA's longstanding relationship with gangsters

The ANC dismisses with contempt the baseless allegations by DA provincial leader Ivan Meyer to sully the name of our ANC provincial chairperson Marius Fransman.

The ANC reiterates that the Vygieskraal rally was an open public event attended by more than 5 000 people and therefore it is not unreasonable to expect diverse people to have attended.

The ANC categorically denies that one Mr Mark Lifman was on the guest list. He was not invited by either the Provincial Chairperson or anyone else from the provincial leadership nor the presidency.

The ANC also reiterate that Lifman was not allowed or never on the stage.

The ANC takes strong exception to Meyer's lie that Liftman was on stage - which is sold as fact.

The ANC also categorically denies that it received funding from Lifman.

Meyer must prove his concocted and foolish allegations of funding that he levels against the ANC.

The DA has long confirmed that it has no scruples in accepting funding from dubious sources and therefore it is rather generous of Meyer to wax lyrical about the alleged splint in the ANC's eye whilst turning a blind eye to the moat in the DA's own.

The ANC views this latest attempt of trying to cast aspersions on our leadership as the DA's desperation and unashamed attempts to shake off its own leader's associations with known gang-leaders, holding meetings in DA cabinet minister's offices, cavorting with them in their private residences and using state funds to prop them up, all of which there is evidence of.

The ANC reminds the people of the Western Cape that it has concrete evidence of DA leadership having bribed a number of known gangsters, including Ricardo Wyngaard not too long ago in an attempt to implicate ANC leadership. It is also on record that there was a cosy relationship between convicted gang boss and murderer Saliem John!

These gangsters were allegedly bribed by DA leadership to amongst others draft unfounded and spurious statements against our leaders nationally and provincially.

This evidence implicates and includes:

DA leadership assisting these gangsters to draft spurious affidavits and then allegedly paying them as well as attempting to circulate them to the media rather than laying criminal charges; and

Photos and recordings of DA leadership cavorting and conspiring with known gangsters and convicted criminals to orchestrate xenophobic violence and then sully the name of the national and provincial leadership of the ANC as well as the SAPS by blaming it on them.

It is noted with concern that this is just another chapter in the long history of the DA's special dirty tricks campaign led by their apartheid era intelligence operatives over the past 5 years to cast aspersions on ANC leadership and portray the ANC as corrupt.

The ANC reminds the community that:

1. It was in fact the ANC itself that as soon as it became aware of these smear campaign affidavits a year ago that immediately reported these allegations to the SAPS for investigation.

2. It is in fact the DA government that has a programme of wasting millions of Rand of tax payers money to bring together all the gang leaders and criminals in the Western Cape in order to legitimize them in the community through there notorious Operation Seize Fire project in order to create conflict and gang wars on the Cape Flats.

The DA and Ivan Meyer accuse the ANC of lying to the people of the Cape, when in reality they have been lying to the people for the past five years. They hide their failures behind baseless allegations. The real gangsters are those in the DA who fight community policing forums, close down legal advice centres, cut funding to social crime prevention projects and drug rehabilitation programmes as well as moving money to the privileged historically white areas - like the DA does.

The ANC in the Western Cape under the leadership of Marius Fransman more than welcomes the challenge by Meyer to a public debate on the Cape Flats on Monday 5th May 2014 to debate these issues and others including:

1. Crime and safety on the Cape Flats;

2. Corruption and maladministration by the DA government;

3. Lack of service delivery, housing and basic services in our coloured and African townships;

4. Employment equity in the Western Cape and the DA's racist policy of Fit For Purpose which in practise means "Wit For Purpose";

5. The DA's racist White Exclusive Economic Empowerment Policies (WEEE).

The ANC once and for all will prove to the people of the Cape Flats and the Western Cape that the DA doesn't care about coloureds and Africans and is far dirtier than thought!

The office of the chair will be in contact with Meyer to set up the logistics of this debate.
