EFF REJECTS THE APPOINTMENT OF VUMA MASHININI AS CHAIR OF THE IEC

The EFF rejects the appointment of Mr. Vuma Mashinini as the chairperson of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC). Mashinini is Zuma's personal friend and has previously been employed as his personal advisor which casts a permanent shadow of doubt on him to preside over elections in a free and fair manner.

The EFF rejects his appointment as ANC's intention to rig the election. He is a Luthuli House deployment who will guard their interests and help them win.‎

It is a demonstration of ANC' disdain of our democracy. It is a direct threat of the most important institution for the guarantee of democracy in South Africa. The IEC is a body that must be trusted by all, it must win the respect and confidence of all players and the public. With Mashinini on its helm, the ANC is telling the public and other political players that it does not care about free and fair elections.
