Mass leak of SSA/NIA reports will be investigated - JSCI

Cornelia September says all relevant people will be called to account by committee

REPORTS OF LEAKED INTELLIGENCE REPORTS A CONCERN

Parliament, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 - The Chairperson of the Joint Standing Committee on Intelligence (JSCI), Ms Cornelia September, has today expressed concerns about the reports of leaked intelligence reports allegedly prepared by or on behalf of South African intelligence agencies.

Ms September stressed that the JSCI remained concerned about maintaining national security, and gave assurances that the JSCI would execute its mandate with this uppermost in its mind.

The Chairperson further stated that the JSCI's programme lends itself to dealing with matters of this nature, and that the JSCI would enforce its legal mandate to initiate an investigation and call all relevant people to account.
