MKMVA KZN wants to assassinate Bheki Kusi - Mosiuoa Lekota

COPE leader says his party's provincial secretary targeted for criticising Association

STATEMENT: DANGER POSED BY MKMVA

Speaker,

COPE is deeply shocked at the reported allegation that the KZ-N MKMVA provincial leadership resolved in a meeting to assassinate COPE provincial secretary Mr Bheki Khusi of Margate. Information is that Mr Khusi is targeted for assassination because he criticised MKMVA members who attacked members of the public at the Thohoyandou during the Nelson Mandela Memorial lecture by president Zuma.

This happened in the presence of the members of the SA police.

On learning of the threat to Mr Bheki Ntofonto Khusi, COPE immediately advised the Minister of this, telephonically and in writing, and demanded appropriate security arrangements for him.

What makes this ominous is that Mr Khusi is the brother in law of the late Wandile Mkhize who was shot and killed in Margate on his return from an ANC policy conference.

In terms of Section 198(1) of our Constitution only the defence force, the police service and law enforcement units founded under law passed by parliament may wear military fatigues.

MKMVA should be allowed to don ceremonial style military uniform, not those used in war.
Public assistance in unravelling the truth of the threat to Mr Khusi will be highly appreciated.

Thank You.
