Move to adjusted Alert Level Two welcomed – IFP

Party says relaxation of restrictions on gatherings makes it possible for them to campaign with more freedom

IFP welcomes move to adjusted Alert Level Two

13 September 2021

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) welcomes tonight's announcement by President Ramaphosa that the country will be moving to Adjusted Alert Level 2.

The relaxation of some of the restrictions - particularly the regulations related to gatherings - will allow the IFP to campaign with more freedom. However, despite this, we would like to stress the need to respect all health protocols - such as the wearing of masks and social distancing - to prevent the spread of the virus.

The third wave is not yet over, and the virus remains a very real threat to the health and wellbeing of the people of South Africa.

The IFP's National Executive Committee (NEC) will be meeting tomorrow and will issue guidelines that will inform how our structures and volunteers will campaign in the coming weeks.

As ever, we would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to our frontline workers, who have been tireless in the battle against the virus.
