DA refers EFF's Nazir Paulsen for disciplinary action over land invasions

The Democratic Alliance condemns criminal acts of land invasion by the EFF in Cape Town this past weekend, continuing into today.

The occupation of private land, by EFF members and supporters, is nothing short of political grandstanding of a criminal bent.

As the ringleader of the EFF action and member of the Western Cape Parliament, Nazir Paulsen, has encouraged and facilitated criminal conduct.

I have therefore today referred Mr Paulsen's conduct to the Western Cape Legislature's Conduct Committee for investigation, with a view to disciplinary action against Mr Paulsen. I have also written to Western Cape Speaker, Shana Fernandez, for her to consider action against Mr Paulsen.

The DA welcomes the City of Cape Town laying criminal charges against Nazir Paulsen, and urges the SAPS to investigate the criminality of Mr Paulsen's land invasion.

The DA will not tolerate the EFF's brand of lawlessness in the Western Cape.
