New ANC cadre deployment committee set up – Leon Schreiber

DA MP says first job will no doubt be to interfere in the appointment of new executive leadership at Eskom

New cadre deployment committee sees Mashatile, Koornhof, Mokonyane, Majodina and Gungubele team up to continue ANC looting at Eskom

Please find attached an English and an Afrikaans soundbite by Dr Leon Schreiber MP.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) hereby wishes to identify, by name, the people who will be responsible for corruption, state capture and service delivery collapse for the remainder of the African National Congress’ (ANC) term in national government, including at Eskom. Following the ANC’s national conference held last year, the party has announced the names of the people who will continue to corrupt and destroy the South African state through the unconstitutional practice of cadre deployment.

Yesterday, former Eskom CEO André de Ruyter confirmed that the ANC uses Eskom as “a feeding through” and that “high-level” politicians are involved in this. The key mechanism used by the ANC to facilitate this looting, is its cadre deployment committee.

The new members of the ANC cadre deployment committee who are henceforth responsible for looting, load-shedding and collapsed service delivery through corruptly interfering in appointment processes are:

Paul Mashatile (chairman);

Nomvula Mokonyane;

Maropene Ramokgopa;

Pemmy Majodina;

Gerhard Koornhof;

Mondli Gungubele;

Thembi Nkadimeng;

Sibongile Besani; and

Representatives from Cosatu, the SACP, ANC women’s league, ANC youth league and the ANC’s veterans league.

As permanent load-shedding confirms every day, cadre deployment has comprehensively destroyed the public sector in this country. Despite this evidence, the first job of this new gang will no doubt be to interfere in the appointment of new executive leadership at Eskom. This will make them personally responsible as load-shedding continues to spiral out of control, to levels 8 and beyond.

It is these persons, as announced by the ANC itself, who will be violating both the Constitution and the findings of the State Capture Commission, which held that the practice of cadre deployment is unlawful and plays a key role in state capture corruption. The list of cadres who now sit on the deployment committee, like their predecessors, including President Cyril Ramaphosa, will soon have to answer for their complicity in corruption and state collapse when the DA wins our court battle to confirm that they are violating the Constitution by interfering in appointment processes to ensure the “deployment” of “cadres” on the basis of loyalty to the ANC rather than on the basis of merit.

The DA thanks the ANC for identifying these constitutional delinquents by name, and we will hold them to account personally for the role they are now set to play in cadre deployment corruption.
