NUMSA demands end to inflation targeting

Union to march to the Reserve Bank in Pretoria to press its demands

NUMSA Marches to the Reserve Bank tomorrow, 27th May 2009.

Capitalist development is forcing human society and nature into one complicated crisis after another. For the working class it is either combat or death. The march to the Reserve Bank tomorrow, Wednesday 27th May, 2009 is but one of the protracted battles to save human society and nature from the real threat of extinction by the capitalist system.

NUMSA is demanding that the RBSA must drastically cut interest rates; stop complaining and bring the unscrupulous behaviour of banks to an end by regulation; scrap the policy of inflation targeting and prioritise employment, growth and sustainable development. These and other demands are taken forward amidst increasing retrenchments, temporary lay offs, falling wages, sky rocketing bank charges and interest rates.

The march will take place in Tshwane, starting at 11:00, corner Proes and Schubart streets to the RBSA. The memorandum will be handed between 12:00 and 13:00. Numsa is inviting all members of the public to join hands in the interest of social, economic and political justice.

SACP Central Committee member comrade Chris Mathlako will among others address the march.

All members of the media are invited.
