PIKITUP refusing to release forensic report - SAMWU

Union says it is being fobbed off with false claims that investigation is not complete

PIKITUP refuses to release forensic report detailing corruption

During April 2011 SAMWU members employed by the PIKITUP entity in Johannesburg embarked on a legal strike, which was victorious. It paved the way to better working conditions for all Labour Broker employees.

The very same strike action resulted in the resignation of the Managing Director Mr Zami Nkosi and the Board of Directors of PIKITUP, leaving behind a number of unanswered questions about the corrupt activities that were taking place at PIKITUP in Johannesburg.

SAMWU successfully forced the PIKITUP management to agree to a Forensic investigation with the aim of investigating all allegations that were levelled against senior management at PIKTUP. It is unfortunate that SAMWU is now faced with a challenge were the Acting Managing Director of PIKITUP; MR Boya is refusing to furnish SAMWU with the findings that had been given to him by the investigators and is now continuously claiming that the investigation is still in process.

SAMWU has learned from reliable sources at PIKITUP, that the full report has been submitted to the entity and that it has been swept under the carpet in order to protect individuals that have been fingered in the report.

We are however not surprised that MR Boya is refusing to make the report available, given his history in the Eastern cape where he had been recently arrested for fraud, corruption and looting the state coffers.

We had also noted that Mr Boya has gone all out commissioning internal investigations to discredit Union leaders within PIKITUP. SAMWU in the Johannesburg Region will soon hold a press conference to address issues that are affecting operations at PIKITUP; including the suitability of Mr Boya to lead PIKITUP, given the corruption allegations that are currently hanging over him.

Statement issued by SAMWU's Menzi Luthuli, June 20 2012
